London Health Libraries network

The London Health Libraries network is one of the longest established networks in London.  It brings together health libraries and library and information professionals from the NHS, Higher Education Institutions, Royal Colleges and other national organisations based in the capital.

It aims to share resources and expertise across health libraries and reduce duplication.

Across London, there are 3 network library groups based on LETB areas.  These groups bring together library staff from a variety of organisations to discuss issues of mutual concern and to plan and implement local strategy.  Staff come together from across the whole of London for continuing professional development activities, project and task groups, and special interest groups (such as the group for information skills trainers - CLIST).

The London Health Libraries Council, working with the Strategic Library Services Development Manager, is responsible for the strategic management, development and co-ordination of health library services in London.  The Council adds value by acting as a focal point for pan-London health library issues and by developing joint working where this brings increased benefits (e.g economies of scale, sharing of expertise and good practice).

Each of the area library groups provides representatives for the Council, to join the Strategic Library Services Development Manager (who chairs Council) and a Higher Education representative (drawn from the M25 Consortium Strategic Partnerships Working Group).

What is LondonLinks?

The LondonLinks website is maintained by the electronic Knowledge Access Team (eKAT) for the London Health Libraries network.

The website is for health library staff in or connected to London. LondonLinks assists NHS information and knowledge management professionals serving the NHS and those working closely with the NHS.  It includes details of pan-London working groups and the minutes of their meetings, contact details for all London health libraries, a calendar of upcoming events, current awareness bulletins, training resources and other resources relevant to NHS librarians and other information and knowledge professionals.
